Introduction to StorageNode

In simple terms a StorageNode is a Virtual Private Instance (i.e. VPS) that has been allocated storage based on end user requirements. StorageNodes provide secure, durable and scalable online cloud storage.

StorageNode Architecture

Infrastructure

Against the trend, each StorageNode is hosted on privately owned and managed x86 based hardware located within the two largest commercial data centres in Sydney, Australia.

Storage Layer

The underlying storage layer is based on ZFS configured with RAID-Z3. The features of ZFS include protection against data corruption, support for high storage capacities, continuous integrity checking and automatic repair. While data is safely located on triple-parity arrays, an optional offsite-replication service is also offered

Network Construct

Carefully built from the ground up to ensure both resiliency and stability. SolNode maintains its own ASN and source bandwidth from multiple upstream carriers. SolNode also maintain a focus on the use of peering and direct/cloud connectivity where practical to deliver an easy, faster and more secure way for customers to access services.

StorageNode Use Cases

StorageNodes provide cost-effective storage for a wide variety of use cases including backup and recovery, archive, disaster recovery and cloud applications.

StorageNode Backup and Recovery

Native ZFS Send|Recv Replication

Send and receive native ZFS based streams from your FreeNAS, FreeBSD, ZFS on Linux or Solaris hosts. See our How To guide for more details on configuring FreeNAS replication to a StorageNode.

RSYNC & scp/sftp Support

Both RSYNC and scp/sftp is supported as these are available in every StorageNode as standard.

Additional Features

Additional support features available to all StorageNodes.

StorageNode Support Features

Data transfer with SeedBox

SeedBox will enable you to swiftly consume your allocated storage regardless of your upstream bandwidth available or ISP data quotas. This service is complimentary for StorageNodes upwards of 1TB. You can find more information on SeedBox here.

Data Recovery Service

Standard and Express Data recovery services are available in the event that a local storage device suffers a failure and data need to be back on line.

Connectivity Options

We currently offer direct connections or cloud based connectivity at any of the Sydney Equinix campus sites or Global Switch..
